备注

The Bank of China was established in February 1912, just weeks after the abdication of the Qing dynasty, replacing the old Ta-Ching Government Bank as the new republic's central financial institution. This note is among the earliest issues under that name, and the engagement of the American Bank Note Company reflects the provisional government's deliberate strategy of anchoring its new currency's credibility to foreign printing houses with international reputations.

Pick #27 exists in several place-of-payment varieties — the same ABNCo plates were overprinted for different branch cities, making the specific place designation the key variable for collectors. Attributing an example to the correct city is essential; values diverge sharply between them.
