Obverse description Green-toned note originally issued by the Central Reserve Bank of China as a 5000 Yuan, overprinted in red with the three-line legend HONG KONG GOVERNMENT / $10 / TEN DOLLARS across the centre. The underlying design carries a central oval vignette with a portrait bust, flanked by Chinese inscriptions reading 伍千圓 (Five Thousand Yuan) and decorative guilloche borders; a serial number appears in red at the top centre above the portrait vignette.

Reverse description The reverse retains the original Central Reserve Bank of China 5000 Yuan design in green, centred on an intaglio vignette of a monumental Chinese gateway and courtyard seen in perspective, framed by elaborate scrollwork and guilloche panels. Denomination numerals 5000 appear in each corner, with the English legend THE CENTRAL RESERVE BANK OF CHINA across the top, FIVE THOUSAND YUAN at the foot, and the date 1945 within an ornamental cartouche at the bottom centre. Two facsimile signatures appear below the vignette, captioned GOVERNOR and VICE GOVERNOR respectively.
