Additional information

Issued as part of China's 1990 Barcelona Olympics preview series — the Games themselves were two years away — this coin commemorates the sport in which Chinese athletes had already established genuine international dominance. At the 1984 Los Angeles Games, China's divers claimed multiple medals in their Olympic debut after a 32-year absence from the Games, and by 1990 the sport had become a point of deliberate national sporting pride.

The .900 fine silver content places it in the lower-purity tier of Chinese commemorative silver from this period, distinguishing it from the .999 Panda issues produced concurrently at the same mints.
