The Central Bank of China's 1945 issues were produced under extraordinary pressure — by this point the Nationalist government's finances were collapsing under wartime expenditure and the inflationary spiral that would ultimately destroy the fabi currency system entirely. Notes from this period were printed in enormous quantities, and the Central Engraving and Printing Plant in Shanghai was operating at capacity alongside foreign contractors to meet demand.
Pick 377 belongs to a series that was largely obsolete within two to three years of issue. The hyperinflation of 1946–1948 rendered single-digit yuan denominations functionally worthless, and most circulated hard until they disintegrated — genuinely uncirculated survivors are less common than the high print runs might suggest.
