| Obverse description | Central field depicts a flat world map projected across two globes rendered in relief, set against a gridded background suggestive of a geographic coordinate system. A decorative architectural motif, resembling a stylized gate or pavilion, is positioned at the upper center between the two hemispheres. The circular legend 中华人民共和国 (People's Republic of China) curves along the upper periphery in Chinese characters. The date 2002 appears in the lower exergue in Arabic numerals. The overall design is executed in a clean, modern engraving style with a frosted cameo finish on the motifs against a mirrored field. |

The Beijing Coin and Stamp Fair series was produced annually by the China Mint as a dedicated issue for the collector market at that event, functioning more as a fair souvenir than a circulating commemorative. The 2002 edition is one of the harder dates to source in quantity, largely because fair-day distribution kept pieces dispersed among individual buyers rather than bulk dealer allocations.
