The "Auspicious Matters" series was part of a broader wave of PRC commemorative gold issues in the 1990s targeting the overseas Chinese collector market, particularly in Hong Kong and Southeast Asia in the lead-up to the 1997 handover. Mintages on these small-denomination gold pieces were tightly controlled by the China Gold Coin Corporation, and distribution ran heavily through authorized dealers in Guangdong and Hong Kong rather than domestic banking channels.
KM#1060 is among the harder types to source singly — it circulated almost exclusively as part of a multi-coin set, and broken sets with missing pieces are the norm in the secondary market.
