| 背面描述 | The reverse presents a finely detailed scenic composition evoking the classical Chinese garden setting associated with the novel 'Dream of the Red Chamber'. A gnarled, leafless tree dominates the left foreground, its twisted branches extending across the upper field, while a traditional garden pavilion and stone rockery are visible in the background. In the lower right, a stack of traditional Chinese thread-bound books rests in the field, referencing Cao Xueqin's literary legacy. The inscription '曹雪芹诞辰300周年' (300th Anniversary of the Birth of Cao Xueqin) appears in Chinese characters along the lower portion, with the denomination '10元' to the lower left and the title '红楼梦' (Dream of the Red Chamber) inscribed in the upper right field. |

Cao Xueqin is traditionally credited as the author of Dream of the Red Chamber, one of the four classical novels of Chinese literature, though he died around 1763 before completing it — the final forty chapters were supplied posthumously by Gao E. His birth year is not actually established with certainty; the 1715 date commemorated here is one of two dates scholars have debated for generations, the other being around 1724. The People's Bank of China issued this coin on the earlier date, effectively taking a side in an unresolved literary-historical argument.
