10 Yuan 20th Anniversary of CITIC Bank

CITIC Bank — formally the China International Trust and Investment Corporation Bank — was established in 1987 as a subsidiary of CITIC Group, itself one of Deng Xiaoping's signature reform-era financial experiments launched in 1979 to channel foreign capital into a controlled market opening. The 20th anniversary commemorative marks the bank's first two decades operating as a quasi-commercial institution within a system that had no real commercial banking sector to speak of until that generation of reform.
