Issued to mark the centenary of the CCP's founding on July 1, 1921, this coin was released as part of a broader commemorative program that included gold and silver collector issues alongside this base-metal circulating piece. The People's Bank produced it in very large quantities for general circulation — a deliberate act of mass distribution ensuring the anniversary reached everyday transactions rather than staying confined to collector sets.
