| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field features a detailed frontal view of the Byōdō-in Phoenix Hall (平等院鳳凰堂) in Uji, Kyoto, rendered in fine relief with its characteristic tiered central pavilion flanked by symmetrical corridor wings. The three Kanji characters of the country name 日本国 (Nihon-koku, State of Japan) arc across the upper field, with 日 at left, 本 at top centre, and 国 at right. Below the temple, the denomination 十円 (jū-en, ten yen) is inscribed in two Kanji characters in the lower field. The design is enclosed within a raised border rim, and the overall composition conveys a restrained, classically Japanese architectural aesthetic. |
