| Obverse description | Intaglio portrait of Wake no Kiyomaro at right, set against a multicolour guilloche underprint of floral scrollwork in pink, green and olive tones. A large dark chrysanthemum rosette vignette with the numeral 10 occupies the left field, flanked by ornate lathe-work borders; two red seal stamps appear in the lower centre, with the imperial chrysanthemum crest at top centre. The bank title in kanji (日本銀行券) runs across the upper register, with the denomination 拾圓 in large characters at centre, and block number in red appearing at upper left and lower right. |
