| Obverse description | The State Arms of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea occupies the central field, depicted as a raised relief emblem featuring Mount Paektu with radiating rays of light above, a hydroelectric dam and industrial structures below, framed by a wreath of ears of rice bound with a ribbon bearing the inscription of the state name in Hangul. The circular legend 조선민주주의인민공화국중앙은행 (Central Bank of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea) runs along the upper periphery in Hangul. The fineness mark '999' and the weight '1oz' appear in the lower field flanking the arms, with the date '1996' and denomination '10 원' inscribed prominently at the bottom. |
