The "1,000-Mile Path of Liberation" refers to the route Kim Il-sung is said to have walked as a young man in the late 1920s, traveling from Manchuria back to Korea to organize anti-Japanese resistance — a journey the North Korean state has elevated into foundational mythology. The historical record for the actual journey is thin; the ideological infrastructure built around it is not.
