| Opis awersu | Printed in blue and orange on white paper, the obverse carries an intaglio portrait vignette of Naser al-Din Shah Qajar in full military uniform at right, set within an ornate frame of interlaced guilloche scrollwork with decorative corner motifs in script numerals. The central field bears the denomination in large Persian calligraphy within a medallion underprint, flanked by a circular blank panel at left reserved for the branch payability overprint. Two manuscript signatures appear at the lower centre, with the printer's imprint of Waterlow & Sons, London along the bottom margin. |

The Imperial Bank of Persia was a British-chartered institution, established in 1889 under a concession granted to Baron Julius de Reuter, and it held the exclusive right to issue banknotes in Persia until 1931 when the newly created Bank Melli Iran assumed that privilege. This note, though issued between 1924 and 1932, carries the portrait of Nasr-ed-Din Shah, who had been assassinated in 1896 — the design was simply retained across successive printings long after his death.
The transition away from Imperial Bank notes was abrupt; Bank Melli's establishment was a deliberate act of economic nationalism under Reza Shah, stripping a foreign-controlled bank of its currency monopoly. Waterlow & Sons held the printing contract throughout the series.
