Obverse description Centrally positioned crowned quartered shield of arms of Hesse-Cassel, displaying multiple heraldic quarters including the lion of Hesse, encircled by a decorative wreath forming an order collar or necklace. The arms are surmounted by an ornate electoral crown. The circular legend surrounding the device reads the joint titles of Elector William II and co-regent Crown Prince Frederick William, separated by dots, and is bounded by a beaded border on the coin's rim.
