Obverse description Bare-headed bust of Duke Charles I of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel facing right, with flowing curled hair tied at the nape, rendered in high relief in the late Baroque manner. A small engraver's initial 'R' appears below the truncation. The circumferential Latin legend reads CAROLVS D • G • DVX BR • ET LVNEB •, distributed around the full periphery of the field. The coin is struck within a finely milled border.
