The automatic cash dispenser provides facilities for: • dispensing up to 5 different types or sizes of bank note • use on the bank floor, or as a 24-hour outdoor service • issuing statements of account and other documents • easy operation by program control • easy inpayments with the deposit feature. Nixdorf Computer AG, headquartered in Paderborn, produced these test notes in-house for use with their own banking and retail automation equipment — ATMs, cash-handling machines, point-of-sale terminals — during the period when German firms were racing to develop reliable currency-processing hardware. "Mustergeld" simply means specimen money, and that is exactly what this is: a calibration and testing instrument, not a financial document.
Nixdorf was acquired by Siemens in 1990, after which the combined entity became Wincor Nixdorf. These notes predate that merger.
