Obverse description The central device features the national coat of arms of Western Samoa, comprising a quartered shield bearing a coconut palm above stylised ocean waves and five stars of the Southern Cross, the whole encircled by a globe and flanked by two olive branches. A Latin cross surmounts the shield at the apex. A scroll below the arms bears the national motto FAAVAE I LE ATUA SAMOA. The legend SAMOA I SISIFO arcs along the upper periphery, and the denomination $10 appears in the lower field.
