| 背面描述 | A dynamic figure of a male sprinter in full stride is depicted in high relief at the centre of the field, rendered in a classical athletic style. To the lower right of the runner, a stylised South Pacific Games emblem is visible. The engraver's initials 'ER' appear at the lower left near the base line. The curved legend '7TH. SOUTH PACIFIC GAMES' runs along the upper periphery, while the date '1983' is inscribed in the lower field. |

The 1983 South Pacific Games were held in Samoa (then Western Samoa), making this one of the few host-nation commemorative issues where the event and the issuing country directly coincided. Samoa used the occasion to produce several collector pieces targeting the burgeoning Pacific-region numismatic market of the early 1980s, a strategy common among smaller Commonwealth nations seeking foreign exchange through coin programs administered largely through external distributors.
