A circular Bengali legend arcs around the upper periphery reading the Silver Jubilee commemorative inscription, with the Latin legend SILVER JUBILEE inscribed below it. Additional information

Issued to mark the 25th anniversary of Bangladeshi independence, this was among the first silver commemoratives produced under the auspices of Bangladesh Bank for the international collector market rather than domestic circulation. The 1971 Liberation War, fought against Pakistani military forces with decisive Indian military intervention, ended in Pakistani surrender on December 16th — a date now observed as Victory Day and the occasion this coin formally commemorates.
