Reverse description The reverse retains the residual design of the original Spanish or Spanish Colonial 1/2 Real host coin, now heavily worn and largely obliterated by the force of the countermarking process. The central field shows a flattened, indistinct crowned shield or pillars-and-waves device typical of Spanish colonial coinage, rendered nearly illegible. Fragmentary peripheral legends from the host coin are partially visible around the rim, consistent with standard Spanish colonial inscriptions, though heavily degraded.
