10 Som Kyz Kuumay

Kyz Kuumay — "catch the girl" in Kyrgyz — is a traditional equestrian game in which a young woman on horseback flees while a male rider attempts to catch her; if he fails, she turns and chases him with a whip. The National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic has leaned heavily on nomadic cultural traditions for its collector silver program, using the series to document practices that Soviet-era policies actively suppressed for decades.
