Kyrgyzstan's bimetallic collector series has consistently drawn on the country's endemic fauna, and the goitered gazelle — known locally as the dzheiran — was by the early 2000s already listed as vulnerable across Central Asia due to poaching pressure and habitat loss from post-Soviet agricultural collapse. The National Bank issued several such pieces partly in coordination with regional conservation awareness efforts, though these are collector-grade issues with no circulation role.
KM#54 is among the later entries in this format, with the silver-in-gold bimetallic construction sourced through the same production arrangements used for earlier wildlife pieces in the series.
