Beschrijving keerzijde Two stylised fish rendered in pre-Columbian Chavín artistic style are depicted in the lower half of the field, arranged in opposite directions to form a dynamic, interlocking composition. The large numeral 10 dominates the upper centre of the field. The curved legend DIEZ SOLES DE ORO arcs along the left and upper periphery, completing the denomination inscription. The design draws on ancient Peruvian iconographic traditions, lending the coin a distinctly cultural character.

Aanvullende informatie

Peru's sol-based coinage was already under pressure by 1969, with inflation steadily eroding the currency's purchasing power in the years following military reforms under the Velasco Alvarado government, which took power in a October 1968 coup. Within a decade, denominations that had seemed substantial would become effectively worthless — the entire sol system was eventually replaced by the inti in 1985 at a rate of 1,000 soles to one inti.
