Obverse description Central oval shield bearing the arms of Savoy — a plain cross — displayed on the breast of a spread eagle. A large ornate crown surmounts the shield. The denomination inscription appears in the field, rendered in superscript characters. The design is executed in low relief typical of emergency or siege coinage of the period.

Reverse description Six-line Latin inscription within an open wreath of laurel branches tied at the base, reading BLOC · ARCIS ALEX · GUB · MARCHIO DE CARALIO with the date 1746 at the foot. The legend references the blockade of the citadel of Alessandria and identifies the governor, the Marquis of Caralio (Ignazio di Carraglio). The wreath is bound at the top by crossed branches and at the bottom by a tied knot. The entire composition is contained within a milled border.
