Reverse description The reverse displays the rampant lion of Milan, crowned, facing left and rearing upon its hind legs atop the Milanese civic shield. The lion's right forepaw raises the Lorraine cross-staff, a dynastic emblem of the House of Habsburg-Lorraine, rendered in bold relief. The quartered Milanese coat of arms appears on the escutcheon below the lion. The circumferential Latin legend IVSTITIA ET CLEMENTIA encircles the central device, separated from the beaded inner border. The overall composition is bold and heraldic in style, consistent with mid-18th-century Italian state coinage.
