正面描述 At centre, the national coat of arms of the Republic of Uzbekistan, featuring a rising sun over a mountainous landscape with a river, flanked by two cotton branches on the left and wheat stalks on the right, tied at the base. An arc of twelve five-pointed stars frames the upper portion of the arms, symbolising the twelve provinces of the republic. The circular legend ЎЗБЕКИСТОН РЕСПУБЛИКАСИ runs along the upper periphery in Cyrillic script.

附加信息

Uzbekistan's som was introduced in November 1993, replacing the Russian ruble as the country sought monetary independence following the Soviet collapse. The nickel-clad steel composition of this series reflects the economic constraints of the late 1990s, when Uzbekistan operated under strict currency controls that the IMF repeatedly criticized — the official exchange rate was kept artificially strong while a black market rate diverged dramatically, sometimes by a factor of three or more.
