Obverse description The obverse is printed in black intaglio on cream paper and carries a finely engraved oval portrait vignette of Takenouchi no Sukune at right, framed by an intricate guilloche border. The central field bears the large kanji denomination 拾圓 (Ten Yen) beneath the issuer's name in kanji, with the imperial chrysanthemum mon at upper centre.
