| Obverse description | Conjoined laureate and draped busts of William III and Mary II facing left, William in front of Mary, both with flowing hair rendered in high relief. William's bust is prominently draped at the shoulder, while Mary's effigy appears behind with similarly elaborate coiffure. The encircling Latin legend reads GVLIELMVS ET MARIA DEI GRATIA, separated by pellet stops, running along the outer border. The coin exhibits the characteristic milled edge and inner bead circle typical of Edinburgh Mint production of this period. The numerals '10' appear partially visible at the lower right of the field, denoting the denomination. |

| Reverse description | Central shield of arms, surmounted by a royal crown, displaying the quartered coat of arms of William and Mary: England (quarterly with France) in the first and fourth quarters, Scotland in the second quarter, and Ireland in the third quarter, with the Nassau lion escutcheon overall at centre. The shield is elaborately rendered with supporters visible at the base and the whole design occupies the majority of the reverse field. The encircling Latin legend MAG BR FR ET HIB REX ET REGINA is divided by the date 1690 at the top, with pellet and cross stops, running around the outer border. The legend appears inverted at the base as the die is oriented in medal alignment. |
