| 正面描述 | Central depiction of the national emblem of Somaliland, featuring a shield bearing a scale of justice above clasped hands, flanked by olive branches and surmounted by an eagle, all enclosed within a circular wreath. A circular legend in Arabic at the top reads the country name and the Hijri year 1440, with the Latin legend REPUBLIC OF SOMALILAND 2019 encircling the lower portion of the field. The design is executed in high relief against a flat field, bordered by a beaded rim. |

Somaliland declared independence from Somalia in 1991 but remains unrecognized by any UN member state, which makes its coinage a peculiar exercise — legally, these are the coins of a country that does not officially exist. The practical effect is that Somaliland issues circulate domestically as functional currency without enjoying any international monetary standing whatsoever.
KM#131 belongs to a long-running bimetallic and copper-nickel series that Somaliland has used since the late 1990s to assert economic function in lieu of diplomatic recognition.
