| Additional information |
Somalia's Central Bank has issued a long-running series of small steel coins aimed squarely at the collector market rather than domestic circulation — the country's actual transactional economy has relied on the Somali shilling in paper form, with coinage playing almost no role in daily commerce since the state's collapse in 1991. These pieces are produced under licensing arrangements and physically minted outside Somalia entirely.
