| Obverse description | Intaglio portrait of Matthew Flinders in naval uniform at right, with his name inscribed below in a curved label. The Commonwealth of Australia Arms vignette appears at lower left, flanked by kangaroo and emu supporters above the word AUSTRALIA. The central field carries the denomination in large letterpress text within a guilloche underprint in orange and brown tones, with two manuscript signatures below — those of the Governor, Reserve Bank of Australia and the Secretary to the Treasury. Serial numbers appear twice in the upper portion of the note. |
