The 1943 Bermuda Government notes were authorized under wartime emergency powers, with Britain tightly controlling colonial currency output to prevent any disruption to the sterling area. Bradbury, Wilkinson's New Malden facility was handling a significant volume of colonial and dominion work at this period, and Bermuda's wartime issues were produced there alongside far larger commissions.

The P#13A designation separates this issue by date position — a cataloguing distinction that reflects actual plate differences, not simply a variety for its own sake. Notes with the date at left were the earlier configuration within the series.
