De La Rue had supplied Jamaican notes continuously since the 1920s, and the 10 Shillings denomination occupied a practical middle position in daily commerce — enough for meaningful transactions but not large enough to attract the hoarding that affected higher values. Pick 46 is frequently found with uneven toning along the folds, a known characteristic of the paper stock used in the final colonial issues.
