Opmerkingen

Jamaica's first domestic banknote series, of which this is part, appeared just before independence — the island was still a British colony when these notes were designed and printed. The Bank of Jamaica itself was established by the Bank of Jamaica Law of 1960, making this among the earliest notes it ever issued. De La Rue produced the series in London under the colonial administration, and the notes were already in circulation when independence arrived in August 1962, requiring no immediate replacement.

The Latin motto below the arms was dropped in later issues as Jamaica revised its national symbols post-independence. That small typographic change is the quickest way to distinguish this earlier printing from its successors.
