To the left, the denomination is expressed in a decorative key-shaped vignette inscribed TEN SHILLINGS, with the numeral 10s in an octagonal panel at left. The issuer title THE GOVERNMENT OF THE FALKLAND ISLANDS appears at top centre, with the legal tender clause below; the date 10th April 1960 and the Commissioner of Currency signature appear at lower centre, above the imprint THOS. The 1960 Falkland Islands 10 Shillings was issued under the authority of the colonial government at a time when the territory's economy revolved almost entirely around the Falkland Islands Company — a single firm controlling most of the land, shipping, and retail trade. De La Rue printed the entire series, as they had for the islands since the nineteenth century, giving continuity across successive reigns.
Pick 7 is scarce in circulated grades partly because the islands' population never exceeded a few thousand, keeping total print runs correspondingly small. The watermark is the sole security feature — no metal strip, no fluorescent inks, nothing more complex than the paper itself.
