Flanking the basilica in the field are stylized trees. The legend BANK OF UGANDA arcs along the upper periphery in large raised letters. Within the lower portion of a raised inner circle, the inscriptions UGANDA MARTYRS' SHRINE and NAMUGONGO appear on two lines, with the date 1969 at the very bottom of the field, flanked by two small olive or laurel sprigs.
