Obverse description Green on multicolour underprint. The Tongan Coat of Arms is centrally positioned as the primary vignette, flanked by coconut palm trees at left and right. Denomination and legal tender inscriptions are arranged around the design, with the date and commissioners' text printed in the lower portion of the note.

Reverse description Printed entirely in green, the reverse is dominated by an elaborate symmetrical guilloche rosette pattern composed of interlocking floral and geometric lathe-work medallions extending across the full face of the note. Denomination counters reading "10/s" appear in the upper-left and lower-right corners, with the word "TEN" in the upper-right and lower-left corners.
