Obverse description An intaglio portrait of King George VI in left-facing profile is set within an oval vignette at the top centre, framed by ornate guilloche scrollwork. The denomination TEN SHILLINGS is printed in large bold letterpress across the centre, flanked by serial numbers at upper left and upper right, with the issuing authority inscription below and the date and Commissioner of Currency signature at lower right. The note is printed in purple and olive tones on a pale cream ground, with a decorative lace-pattern border surrounding the entire face.
