| Описание реверса | The national coat of arms of Tanzania displayed centrally, featuring a warrior's shield divided into three sections: an upper golden panel bearing a torch of freedom, a central panel depicting the national flag, and a lower red panel with a crossed axe and hoe above wavy bands representing the sea. A vertical spear bisects the shield. The shield is supported by a man and a woman standing upon a representation of Mount Kilimanjaro, with a clove bush at the man's feet and a cotton bush at the woman's feet; elephant tusks frame the supporters on either side. The denomination and date appear in the legend along with the national motto in Swahili. |

| Дополнительная информация |
Tanzania's shilling coinage of the late 1980s was produced under considerable economic strain — the country was in the midst of IMF structural adjustment negotiations that had dragged on since 1979, and domestic purchasing power had eroded sharply enough that a 10 shilling coin represented meaningful daily currency rather than small change. The Bank of Tanzania was managing a monetary system under pressure from both inflation and a parallel black-market exchange rate that routinely dwarfed the official one.
Production spanned only three years before higher-denomination coinage became increasingly impractical to mint in base metal at honest weights.
