The assassination of Benigno Aquino Jr. that August triggered capital flight, a peso crisis, and eventually the 1986 People Power Revolution — yet the Bangko Sentral continued striking this type straight through the political upheaval, into the early Aquino and Ramos administrations, with no design change marking the transition.
