Obverse description Right-facing draped bust of Queen Salote Tupou III, wearing a pearl necklace, her hair styled in a low chignon. The effigy is rendered in high relief with strong modelling characteristic of the engraver James Berry. The legend SALOTE TUPOU III curves along the upper periphery, while the date 1967 appears in the lower field. The coin border is decorated with a continuous row of beads.

Reverse description The large numeral 10 occupies the centre of the field, flanked on either side by a spray of stylised leafy branches forming an open wreath. A five-pointed star appears above the numeral and three additional stars are arranged in a triangular formation below it. The country name TONGA is inscribed along the upper periphery, and the denomination SENITI curves along the lower periphery. The border is composed of a continuous row of beads.
