The legend PRÉSIDENT JOSEPH-DÉSIRÉ MOBUTU arcs around the upper and left periphery in bold Latin letters, separated from the design by a beaded inner border. The date 1970 is inscribed in the lower exergual area beneath the bust. The deeply mirrored proof fields and frosted portrait surfaces give the piece a cameo appearance typical of a commemorative proof issue. |
