Obverse description Central field dominated by a large raised annular ring, representing a stylized numeral zero, flanked to the right by the character 十 (ten) and to the left by 錢 (sen), together reading the denomination 十錢 (10 sen). The Imperial chrysanthemum mon of sixteen petals is prominently placed at the top of the field. The lower portion of the design features a pair of symmetrical cloud scrolls flanking a paulownia (kiri) crest, both emblems associated with Imperial Japanese authority. The reeded edge of the coin is visible along the rim.
