Obverse description At center, the sixteen-petaled imperial chrysanthemum crest (kikumon) is depicted in high relief, rendered with fine radial detail. The denomination inscription in kanji (十錢, '10 sen') appears in the upper field, flanked symmetrically by raised dot ornaments to either side of the chrysanthemum. Elaborate paulownia foliage and floral scrollwork fill the lower field, framing the central device. The entire design is contained within a beaded border running along the coin's rim.
