Brunei's Currency Board was established in 1967 following the country's withdrawal from the Borneo Currency Agreement, which had bound Brunei, Malaysia, and Singapore to a shared monetary framework. This 1992 issue marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of that independent currency authority — a milestone that carried particular weight given Brunei's full independence from Britain had only come in 1984, meaning the Currency Board had outlasted the protectorate itself.
