Obverse description Confronting busts of Marquis Ludovico II, facing right, wearing a plumed hat and the collar of the Order of Saint Michael, and Margherita di Foix, facing left, draped and veiled, displayed in facing opposition within the central field. The effigies are rendered in the late Gothic-Renaissance portrait style typical of northern Italian hammered coinage of the early sixteenth century. The surrounding field is plain, with the visual composition focused entirely on the paired portrait busts.

Reverse description A crowned double-headed eagle displayed with wings spread, facing left, upon whose breast is charged an escutcheon divided per pale: dexter with the arms of Saluzzo (a bend), sinister with the arms of Foix (two cows passant). The eagle is rendered in the heraldic style characteristic of Italian Renaissance coinage, with bold, deeply struck relief. The reverse legend in Latin encircles the design and serves as a scriptural motto, framed by decorative stops.
