Additional information

Charles Emmanuel II ruled Savoy under heavy French influence, with Louis XIV effectively dictating much of his foreign and fiscal policy throughout the 1660s. This 10 Scudi piece belongs to a series of large gold multiples produced more for prestige and diplomatic gifting than everyday exchange — a 33-gram gold coin had no practical circulation function in a duchy of Savoy's size and economic reach.

The MIR 797 attribution places this among the rarer emissions of his reign, with surviving examples predominantly traceable to old Italian and Swiss collections rather than trade hoards.
