| 背面描述 | The numeral '10' appears prominently above the Cyrillic denomination САНТИМ in the central field, with the date 1887 below, all enclosed within a wreath composed of olive branches on the left and oak branches on the right, tied at the base with a floral ornament. The word ESSAI appears in small letters to the lower left of the date, flanked by the engraver's initials AB to the right, within a beaded border. |

Ferdinand I was elected Prince of Bulgaria in July 1887 following the forced abdication of Alexander I of Battenberg, but his position was deeply precarious — Russia refused to recognize him, and the Great Powers withheld formal acknowledgment for years. These essai pieces were struck as part of the process of establishing a coinage infrastructure for the new regime, testing designs and compositions before committing to full production runs. The 10 santim denomination was never issued for circulation in copper under Ferdinand.
