10 Rupie

Italy's occupation of Somalia — formally administered as Somalia Italiana — required a parallel currency, and the Banca d'Italia produced this series specifically for colonial circulation, not for use on the peninsula. The Rupia was pegged to the Indian Rupee, a concession to existing trade networks along the East African coast that Italian administrators found impossible to displace overnight.

Pick 4 is the scarcest denomination in the 1920 colonial issue. Surviving examples in any grade are rarely offered, which suggests low print runs or heavy attrition during the chaotic administrative transitions of the early 1920s.
